Privacy Policy

TinyOwl is a local-first desktop app. This policy explains what data stays on your Mac, when TinyOwl connects to a service, and how to contact us.

Last updated: July 16, 2026

Data stored on your Mac

Image compression, resize, and local saving run on your Mac. Your original images are not sent to TinyOwl for those actions. TinyOwl stores its settings, presets, workflows, upload-provider settings, and license state locally on your device.

License and trial data

When you start a trial, activate a license, or refresh its status, TinyOwl sends the relevant license key or token, a randomly generated device ID, and the app version to the license service. This information is used to provide the trial, validate licenses, prevent abuse, and provide support. Payment details are handled by the payment provider; TinyOwl does not need access to your local image originals for licensing.

Optional uploads

Uploads happen only after you configure an upload provider and run a workflow that includes an upload step. TinyOwl then sends the compressed output and the credentials required for that request to the storage provider you selected, such as R2, S3, OSS, COS, MinIO, or another S3-compatible service. Their own terms and privacy policies apply.

Retention and sharing

Local settings remain on your Mac until you change or remove them. License, trial, purchase, and support records may be retained for as long as reasonably needed to operate the service, prevent fraud, resolve disputes, and meet legal or accounting obligations. We do not sell your personal information.

Your choices

You can edit or remove local settings in TinyOwl, or delete its local settings file. To ask about license, purchase, or support records, email us from the address used for your purchase. Deleting local settings does not by itself cancel a license or remove service-side records.
