General Settings and License

Open Settings

You can open Settings in any of these ways:

• Click Settings in the main window.
• Click Settings at the bottom of the menu bar panel.
• Right-click the menu bar icon and choose Settings….
• Choose TinyOwl -> Settings from the macOS app menu, or press Command + ,.

Compression, resize, upload-provider, and workflow configuration are covered in their own guides. This page focuses on global preferences and licensing.

Appearance and Language

Under General, you can change:

• Color mode: follow the system, use light mode, or use dark mode.
• Design theme: Cursor, OpenCode, Claude, or Lovable. A design theme changes the visual language of the controls, not compression output.
• Language: Chinese or English. The main window, Settings, and menu bar panel use the same language.
• Getting Started: replay the tour of the main-window, menu-bar, clipboard, and Finder entry points.

Appearance and language choices are stored on your Mac and remain active after reopening TinyOwl.

Trial and Unactivated Limits

TinyOwl includes a 7-day trial. Open License and Updates to review the current status and the trial start and end dates.

Batch processing, complete workflows, and online updates are available during an active trial or with an active license. After the trial ends or while the app is unactivated, each run is limited to the free image count shown in the app. TinyOwl opens the license notice before starting an oversized batch.

Activate a License

1. Open Settings -> License and Updates.
2. If you do not have a license, click Buy TinyOwl and complete the purchase.
3. Paste the license key you received into the field.
4. Click Activate.
5. Continue when the page shows the active status.

Activation requires an internet connection. If it fails, confirm the network connection and that the entire license key was entered, then try again. See the website pricing, terms, and refund pages for license, device-count, trial, and refund details.

Check for and Install Updates

Online updates are available during an active trial or with an active license:

1. Open Settings -> License and Updates, or choose Check for Updates from the app menu.
2. Click Check for Updates.
3. When a version is available, review its number and release notes, then click Download and Install.
4. After the download finishes, click Restart App to use the new version.

If the check or download fails, TinyOwl keeps the current version. Confirm the network connection and check again.
